Navigating Genetic Counseling and IVF Solutions"
presented by:
Dr. Mira Malcov heads the PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis) lab at Tel-Aviv Ichilov Medical Center.
Dr. Malcov pursued her MSc. on egg maturation at Tel-Aviv University, and in her Ph.D., she studied the mechanism of transforming somatic cells into gametes (oocytes and sperm cells).
In 2000, she established the PGD lab at Ichilov Medical Center and developed a unique "single-cell PCR" protocol with high accuracy and reliability. These analyses enabled the paralleled amplification of dozens of genomic loci in a single cell aspirated from a cleavage stage embryo.
Her genetic lab specializes in complicated cases of families affected by more than one genetic disorder and patients with De-novo mutation. In her lab, six highly qualified molecular biologists also pay particular attention to the unique needs of patients suffering from severe genetic syndromes and frequently cope with the sickness or death of close family members.
